About our makeup studio

When illness shapes your future

When I was younger, I used to look at my mother and I thought she was beautiful. Even today, she has that reassuring quality, as do many mothers. My mother's self-esteem was put to the test when she was very young. She had lupus and the disease left permanent marks on her face.

In elementary school, several classmates would ask me what was wrong with my mother. Each time, I was surprised by their question because I saw her as any other woman. Just as beautiful, just as alive. Without realizing it, her illness shaped my future: it became my mission, my passion.

I was told that I would be wasting my academic talent

I was the athletic type and good at school. I liked simple, I liked real. When I decided to go into aesthetics, many people told me that I would be wasting my academic potential. True to my Aries sign, I went with my head.

I remember my first day in the program, surrounded by girls with fake nails and makeup. I thought to myself. "What am I doing here?", I asked myself. My curiosity about beauty made me persist. I thought of my mother who never liked to look in mirrors, of the woman who thought she was less beautiful because of the marks on her face. Unconsciously, I felt that I owed it to my mother and to all women to continue my studies.

It must be said that, since the first day of my 17 years, I have been a strong advocate of the beauty of women. We give life! It is so liberating to find beauty in our imperfections.

My studies in aesthetics led me to deepen my knowledge in several related fields, such as hairdressing, laser, electrolysis, morphopsychology and artistic makeup, until June 2009. That year I founded my first makeup school. In ten years, the Academy will train close to 200 graduates in makeup artistry, all passionate like me who wanted to make a living from this wonderful profession.

The click

In 2014, when I was seven months pregnant, I decided to take my permanent makeup course. This training had the effect of a click, as if I had always had this machine in my hand. I bet everything by doing a 180 degree turn, but always with the certainty of succeeding.

At the forefront of the industry

In 2014, I acquired the Makeup Artist, a company that has been established for nearly 14 years and an authority in permanent makeup. This addition would change the direction of Pure Couleur thereafter.

From the moment I completed my permanent makeup course, I quickly realized that the field was in dire need of refreshing its techniques. With my forward-thinking vision, I was one of the first in Quebec to advocate for a more natural permanent makeup.

To do this, I invited Anna Dermo from France to open up the Quebec industry to the world and to the techniques used internationally. After six years, Pure Couleur has been recognized as an accredited center for training the next generation of artists.

At a European convention in April 2019, a new partnership with the Italian company Biotek propels Pure Couleur to the next level.

However, the success of Pure Couleur would not be complete without the passionate girls who work there. They love doing their job and reaching out to others as much as I do. They are great, they are Pure Couleur.
